SkinPen® Microneedling

SKINPEN® MICRONEEDLING

Ok so you have heard them all - Microneedling, percutaneous skin induction therapy, Dermafrac, Dermapen or Dermarolling - the list goes on.

Trying to determine the best treatment for you should not be disguised with fancy marketing and gimmicks, thats why I’ll simplify it for you.

skin needling

In a nut shell - there are many variances to skin needling but the main significant differences is the quality of the device being used, depth at which the skin is treated, and the quality of the serums being infused.

At SKN Associate, skin needling will be conducted by a registered nurse who is able to precisely analyse the depth and the amount of passes needed to achieve the best outcome for each individual.

As daunting as it sounds, this amazing treatment is so unique, and contrary to the name it is minimally invasive and downtime is minimal for such amazing results. It can be used as a lighter skin rejuvenation with minimal downtime or customised for a deeper resurfacing treatment.

The depth of the needles and amount of passes enable this treatment to be a highly adaptive skin rejuvenation treatment suited to almost any skin type. Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) or additives can also be used to intensive results.

For example: skin lightening agents, in a serum form, can be added into the skin needling session to target stubborn pigmentation that not all light therapies can target.

The Process

Medical-grade skin needling involves creating micro needle punctures which ‘trick’ the skin into natural wound-healing mode, creating new collagen and elastin production for the purpose of skin rejuvenation.

Benefits

  • skin cell regeneration

  • stimulation of cell turnover

  • formation of new collagen and elastin fibres

  • scar tissue improvement

  • reduction of pore size

  • reducing sebum production

  • assists in normalizing melanin production

Addresses these common skin concerns

  • Post acne scarring (pitted scarring)

  • Atrophic scarring (chickenpox, traumatic)

  • Raised fibrous scars

  • Aging specific lines and wrinkles

  • Full face rejuvenation

  • Enlarged pores

  • Stretch marks

  • Pigmentation

  • Melasma

This treatment usually takes around 45 minutes, and is relatively painless unlike the name suggests. Your skin will be a little pink or redder if a more intensive treatment best suits your desired outcome.

Normally, the skin is settled enough the next day for make up application and will start peeling day 2-3.

Individual outcomes will be discussed with you prior to your treatment to give you a timeline of your recovery journey to best prepare you.
